In a tweet Monday morning, first lady Melania Trump announced she chose the theme of “Spirit of America” for this year’s White House Christmas decorations with trees and wreaths dripping in patriotic stars and stripes.

The White House was decked out for the upcoming holiday while the Trump family was vacationing in Florida for Thanksgiving. Upon their return, the first lady made one final walk-through of the house, checking to make sure everything was up to par, according to CNN.

“‘The Spirit of America’ is shining in the White House! I am delighted to share this beautiful exhibit of patriotism for all to see, and excited for everyone to experience the beauty of the #Christmas season!,” she said in her tweet.

The first lady also attached a video of the decorations that can be seen throughout the house.

While the White House is adorned with many decorations specific to the “Spirit of America” theme, traditional decorations can still be seen throughout the house, such as the White House Crèche or nativity scene — in the East Room and the giant replica of the White House made from gingerbread and white icing in the State Dining Room.

The White House Christmas tree stands in the Blue Room at over 18 feet tall. The tree is covered with paper flowers, which represent the 50 state flowers of the United States, according to CNN.

“This Christmas season I want to honor those who have shaped our country and made it the place we are proud to call home ...” she said in a statement. “When I travel the country, I am inspired by the hard-working people and families that I meet. No matter which state they call home, many Americans share a strong set of values and deep appreciation for the traditions and history of our great nation.”

All in all, the White House decorations include 106 Christmas wreaths, 58 Christmas trees, over 2,500 strands of lights, 800 feet of garland and 400 golden stars, according to Fox News. The house was decorated by volunteers from all 50 states, as is tradition.

Visitors can see the White House Christmas decorations up close through scheduled tours, open houses and receptions throughout December.
