The first trailer for “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” dropped Monday, giving fans a first look into the newest entry in the “Ghostbusters” franchise.

The film was originally announced back in January, according to the Deseret News.

The new trailer gives a first glimpse into the plot of “Ghostbusters: Afterlife,” which will be set in the same fictional universe as the original 1984 film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Finn Wolfhard and McKenna Grace will star as two kids who move with their mother, played by Carrie Coon, to a small town in Oklahoma, where they begin to uncover secrets about their grandfather — none other than Egon Spengler, who has since passed away, and was played in the original “Ghostbusters” by the late Harold Ramis, according to People magazine.

Paul Rudd will also star in the film. Stars from the original “Ghostbusters” are also expected to make cameo appearances, including Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts, People reported.

Jason Reitman, son of the director of the 1984 “Ghostbusters,” Ivan Reitman, will direct “Ghostbusters: Afterlife,” according to People.

“I’ve always thought of myself as the first ‘Ghostbusters’ fan when I was a 6-year-old visiting the set. I wanted to make a movie for all the other fans,” Jason Reitman told Entertainment Weekly in January. “This is the next chapter in the original franchise. It is not a reboot. What happened in the ’80s happened in the ’80s, and this is set in the present day.”

“Ghostbusters: Afterlife” will come to theaters July 10, 2020, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
