SALT LAKE CITY — The International House of Pancakes is going full pizza for National Pizza Day.

IHOP announced Thursday it will be selling a pancake pizza — a "Pancizza" — to celebrate National Pizza Day

Those living in Chicago, Dallas, New York City and Los Angeles can order the 7-inch "pancizza" through DoorDash and IHOP.com, according to Insider.

  • "The mashup may seem gross at first glance, but if you're imagining pepperoni, anchovies, and mozzarella on a pancake — don't. This frankenfection is just a large pancake in a cardboard takeout box," according to Insider.

Three flavors: The pancake comes in three flavors: original buttermilk, bacon and cheddar, and cupcake (frosting, rainbow sprinkles and whipped cream included).

Syrup: You will receive a slew of syrups, including blueberry, strawberry, butter pecan and regular flavor.

Cost: The pancake will cost $4.99.

Additional deal: If you’re a first-timer for DoorDash, use the code "PANCIZZA" through DoorDash and receive a free delivery.

Why it matters: IHOP Chief Marketing Officer Brad Haley told USA Today that the promotion will celebrate the partnership between IHOP and DoorDash.

  • "We thought what better way to celebrate that since National Pizza Day since pizza was one of the first, and still is, the biggest take-out and delivery item," Haley said.

Flashback: IHOP’s marketing stunts are nothing new. Last summer, the company briefly changed its name to IHOb (International House of Burgers) as a marketing ploy to highlight its hamburger menu, which I wrote about for the Deseret News.
