The Netflix show’s cast — Jodie Sweetin, Candace Cameron Bure, Andrea Barber, Elias Harger, Soni Bringas, Scott Weinger and Michael Campion — walked on stage after winning the prize for favorite funny TV show at the Kids’ Choice awards, according to USA Today.
Watch the moment below:
Here’s what they said:
- Barber: “Thank you for voting ‘Fuller House’ as your favorite funny TV show! You have been laughing alongside our family for four seasons. And this family has a lot of heart.”
- Bure: “And where there’s a lot of heart, there’s a lot of love.” She added, "And a loving family sticks together no matter what. They stick together through the hard times, they support each other, they encourage one another, they pray for each other — and they stand by their side no matter how tough it gets. And a loving family that sticks together also celebrates the really good times together.”
- Sweetin: “And this is one of those good times! Thank you guys so much. You have stuck with us for 30 years and we love you all ... we promise the fifth and final season is going to be amazing.”
Why it matters: The Washington Post notes that the speech was a positive PR stunt from the cast. It was a way for the cast to comment on the scandal, earn some headlines, and always have the option to deny they ever commented since they didn’t mention Loughlin’s name at all. The cast also appears supportive and kind. The cast promoted the final season of their show.
Context: Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli were accused of paying $500,000 in bribes so that their daughters could be team crew recruits for the University of Southern California, according to The Associated Press.
