Gov. Gary R. Herbert, Rep. Chris Stewart and Maj. General Jefferson S. Burton honored the veterans as part of the ongoing commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War. According to the governor's office, Utah honors the nine million American men and women who served from November 1955 to May 1975 and recognizes the more than 58,000 who paid the ultimate price. About 28,000 Utahns served in Vietnam, including almost 400 who did not return home. Today, over 40,000 men and women who served during the Vietnam War live in Utah.
