SALT LAKE CITY — The last time we saw Thor’s ex Jane Foster on-screen was in “Thor: The Dark World” (2013). She then disappeared without warning or fanfare.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said Natalie Portman’s absence in “Thor: Ragnarok” was due to a breakup between Thor and Jane Foster.

It was widely reported in 2011, however, that Portman was “deeply unhappy” with Marvel after Patty Jenkins was dropped as director for “Ragnarok.”

Fans are now speculating, however, that Portman might be returning to the MCU in “Avengers: Endgame” after the actor made a surprising appearance at the “Endgame” premiere Monday night.

Portman told the Wall Street Journal in 2016, “I don’t know if maybe one day they’ll ask for an 'Avengers 7' or whatever, I have no idea. But as far as I know, I’m done.”

It isn’t "Avengers 7," but “Endgame” just might feature the return of Foster if Portman’s premiere appearance means anything about the future of the franchise.

“Avengers: Endgame” hits theaters Friday.
