SALT LAKE CITY — John Ursua has gone from Utah bred to Seattle bound.
The former Westlake High and Cedar High standout was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL draft Saturday. He was the 236th overall pick.
Ursua, who played wide receiver for Hawaii, declared for the draft following his junior college season. He had a breakout season in 2018, catching 89 passes for 1,343 yards and 16 touchdowns.
He finished his college career with 2,662 receiving yards and 24 touchdowns.
Ursua played his final high school season at Cedar High. He played his sophomore and junior years at Westlake High, where he played both receiver and quarterback, after starting his prep career in Hawaii.
Scouting Ursua: "Ursua is a fun slot receiver with a lot of production on his resume. He's an older prospect who could struggle beating press at the line in the pros, but the Seahawks saw enough to give up a 2020 pick to get him," wrote CBS Sports' Chris Trapasso.
