SALT LAKE CITY — The BYU Cougarettes are national champions … again.

The Cougarettes dance team won national titles in jazz and hip-hop categories over the weekend at the 2019 NDA Collegiate Cheer & Dance Championship.

The dance team won the Division IA national titles in both jazz and hip hop.

According to a BYU press release, the Cougarettes have won 19 national championships since 1997.

Here’s where BYU finished in the 2019 jazz championship on Friday. BYU’s score was the highest ever total in that jazz competition.

  • BYU (99.00)
  • Texas Tech (97.60)
  • South Carolina-Columbia (95.37)
  • Iowa State (95.14)
  • Ohio State (94.94)

Reaction: "I was very proud of the way we performed," Cougarettes coach Jodi Maxfield said in a press release. "We fought hard on stage for both titles with a lot of commitment, unity and love. I'm so proud of all the hard work we put in this year to achieve the goal of winning two national titles."
