SALT LAKE CITY — JK Simmons, J. Jonah Jameson himself, said he would be “very happy” to play the character again — mostly because of Tom Holland.

The actor, who won an Academy Award, BAFTA and a Golden Globe for his performance in “Whiplash,” told Metro he would be excited to play Jameson again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In the comics, Jameson was the editor of The Daily Bugle in New York City before being elected as mayor. Simmons previously played the character in Sam Raimi’s "Spider-Man" films, which featured Tobey McGuire as the title character.

Simmons said he is a big fan of Tom Holland, who plays Spider-Man in the current films, and had a good experience working with the “first Spider-Man gang” in the previous films.

“I’m definitely leaving the door open,” he said.

Simmons also discussed his critical success and said it’s allowed him to be more selective with his film roles. Instead of working, he’s taken more time with his family.

‘My kids are leaving the house and going off to college so I’m trying to enjoy the precious last few years – or now last few months – that my wife and I have as full-time parents,” Simmons said.

Spider-Man’s next appearance on the silver screen is “Spider-Man: Far From Home” on July 2, but it remains to be seen if Jameson will make an appearance.
