SALT LAKE CITY — Is Britney Spears suffering a health crisis?
Britney Spears' mother said this week that her daughter is in dire shape, according to CNN. So much so that she “has filed court documents asking permission for an attorney to appear on her behalf at a hearing regarding the singer's care later this week,” according to CNN.
Lynne Spears has asked for attorney Gladstone N. Jones III to appear in court and act as her representative in the status hearing, CNN reports.
Lynne Spears’ attorneys said that it’s in Britney Spears’ "best interest to allow Lynne Spears to have a voice at the status hearing."
This latest development comes as Britney Spears has had a confusing last few months. Back in January, she announced she was stepping away from her Las Vegas residency show to help her father, who was dealing with health problems, according to ABC News.
- Spears said in an Instagram post that she was dealing with “stress and anxiety” over family issues.
- "My family has been going through a lot of stress and anxiety lately so I just needed time to deal," Spears wrote on Instagram.
- She added: "You may not know this about me, but I am strong, and stand up for what I want!"
Last month, Spears said she was taking “me time” and reportedly checked into a facility for a wellness treatment. There were some rumors that the facility wouldn’t let her leave, according to USA Today. In fact, a social media campaign began to #FreeBritney.
But CNN confirmed Spears left the facility last week. She confirmed to fans that she wasn’t in trouble or held against her will.
- "Just checking in with all of you who are concerned about me. All is well," Spears said in a video posted to Instagram Tuesday. "My family has been going through a lot of stress and anxiety lately, so I just needed time to deal."
- "Wow! There’s rumors, death threats to my family and my team, and just so many things crazy things being said," she captioned the video. "I am trying to take a moment for myself, but everything that’s happening is just making it harder for me. Don’t believe everything you read and hear."
