PROVO — If the BYU student section looked bigger and stronger Tuesday night, it was due to Jamaal Williams and others from the football team joining in on the rooting and heckling.
Williams, running backs coach Reno Mahe, linebacker Fred Warner and two players who appeared to be lineman Thomas Shoaf and receiver Batchlor Johnson IV stood with the students at the Cougars' NIT quarterfinal game.
They repeated cheers with the crowd, posed for pictures and apparently made some new friends. And true to form, Williams did plenty of dancing.
On the other side of the portal, safety Kai Nacua and another group of players did some dancing and cheering too.
Last Friday, head coach Kalani Sitake helped pump up the student section as BYU took on Virginia Tech in the second round of the NIT.
Some footage of pregame excitement from the members of the football team in attendance can be seen above.
