SALT LAKE CITY — Each week the Deseret News collects high school football stats from around the state, with over 80% of the coaches submitting their offensive and defensive stats each week.

Here’s a look back at some headliner performances from Week 2:

Class 6A

Josh Wilson, Corner Canyon — Corner Canyon’s senior linebacker recorded seven tackles to lead his team to the 31-0 shutout victory over Herriman. He also returned an interception 41 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter.

Tanner Holden, American Fork — Had a game to remember in American Fork’s 58-35 win over Timpview. Offensively he caught eight passes for 88 yards and a staggering four touchdowns. Defensively he intercepted two passes as well.

DaiSean Cash, Hunter — Threw for 227 yards and three touchdowns and also rushed for a pair of short-yardage TDs as well to lead visiting Hunter past Clearfield 31-8.

Kael Mikkelsen, Pleasant Grove — Only caught three passes on Friday, but all three went for touchdowns as the senior finished with 63 yards and three TDs. He also added an interception defensively.

Class 5A

Carter Weierman, Woods Cross — Wildcats’ quarterback completed 19 of 29 passes for 262 yards and four touchdowns as Woods Cross improved to 2-0 this preseason with a 27-21 win over Northridge.

Cinco Lucero, Alta — Senior quarterback completed 27 of 29 passes for 293 yards and four touchdowns and he also rushed for another score to lead Alta to the 41-28 win over visiting Desert Hills.

Nick Shirley, Farmington — Was everywhere for the Phoenix in last Friday’s 35-14 win over Syracuse. Defensively he recorded four tackles and grabbed two interceptions and then offensively he carried the ball six times for 18 yards and then added three receptions for 61 more yards.

Austin Mortensen, Springville — Hauled in seven catches for 225 yards and two touchdowns — including a long of 88 yards — to pace Springville to the blowout 48-14 win over Skyline. Mortensen also added eight tackles defensively.

Class 4A

Chase Johansen, Park City — Racked up 15 tackles and also recovered a fumble in the end zone in the fourth quarter as Park City held off Juan Diego for the 20-13 win.

Rhett Geber, Ridgeline — Gave Cyprus fits in last Friday’s 28-13 win as the senior linebacker recorded 12 tackles and three sacks. He’s one of Ridgeline’s top returning defensive players and a big reason the Riverhawks are 2-0.

Jacob Lundin, Green Canyon — The Wolves quarterback rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns and also passed for 160 yards to lead Green Canyon to the 27-0 shutout win over Bonneville.

Reggie Graff, Dixie — Helped Dixie bounce back from a Week 1 loss to Springville with a 41-21 blowout of Roy as he passed for 222 yards and two scores and also rushed for another 129 yards and two more TDs.

Class 3A

Cade Bowring, Juab — Scored a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns as Juab rallied past Cedar City for the 34-26 victory. Bowring finished the game with 20 carries for 143 yards and two TDs while he also added an interception defensively.

Bryant Troutt, Grand — Carried the ball 13 times for 177 yards and two touchdowns and also completed 4 of 5 passes for another 197 yards and one touchdown as Grand rolled past Providence Hall for the win 42-6.

Carter Thackeray, Morgan — Torched Ogden’s defense in the 46-0 win as he completed 22 of 29 passes for 309 yards and six TDs. On the season Thackeray already has 471 yards and nine TDs.

Brittyn Riddle, Richfield — Hauled in five catches for 78 yards and three touchdowns as Richfield edged North Sevier for the 25-20 win.

Class 2A

Sam Orton, Kanab — Completed 8 of 14 passes for 146 yards and four TDs and also rushed for another touchdown as the Cowboys rolled past Rich in their season opener 40-0.

Bryson Barnes, Milford — Led Milford to the lopsided 46-8 win over Gunnison Valley as he completed 22 of 30 passes for 322 yards and five TDs, with four of the TDs coming in the first half as the Tigers built a 39-0 halftime lead.

Kaleb Barney, Beaver — The senior recorded nine tackles, three sacks and one interception to lead the Beavers to a surprisingly easy 40-0 win over Delta in Week 2.

Ryan Moody, Enterprise — Made contributions on both sides of the ball in Enterprise’s 21-14 win over South Sevier. Offensively the carried the ball 14 times for 139 yards and then defensively he tied for the team lead with nine tackles and added an interception.
