U.S. TV provider Dish has announced a competition they will be holding in preparation for Halloween.
With the recent release “It Chapter Two” and “Doctor Sleep” coming soon, Dish will be paying one lucky (or unlucky, depending on how you look at it) person to watch 13 Stephen King movies by Halloween.
Dish is asking the winning participant to keep track of their entire experience in detail, including keeping track of their heart rates during scary scenes and noting who they watched the movie with, when they had jump scares, how well they slept (or didn’t sleep) after and which movies they liked most.
Participants can also share their scares via social media or vlog every time they jump out of their seats, according to the press release.
No educational degree is necessary and no drug test or background check will be performed, but applicants must be at least 18 years old and be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
The 13 movies the winning participant will need to watch are “Carrie” (original or 2013 remake), “Children of the Corn,” “Christine,” “Creepshow,” “Cujo,” “Dreamcatcher,” “It” (original or 2017 remake), “The Mist,” “Pet Sematary” (original or 2019 remake), “Salem’s Lot,” “The Shining,” “Thinner” and “Misery.”
Dish will provide a worksheet to help the participant keep notes, a Fitbit to help with tracking heart rates and a “survival kit” including a flashlight, blanket, popcorn, candy and some Stephen King paraphernalia.
The winner will also receive a movie theater gift card to add a 14th movie to their list — either “It Chapter Two” or “Doctor Sleep.” Once they watch all the movies and log their report, they will be paid $1,300.
