DRAPER — Authorities are investigating after the “suspicious death” of an inmate Saturday night, officials said.

At 10:30 p.m., the inmate died in the Utah State Prison Oquirrh facility, said Kaitlin Felsted, State Department of Corrections spokeswoman.

“It looks like it was suspicious circumstances, but we’re still trying to figure out what those details are,” she said.

Late Sunday afternoon, Felsted said in a statement the death was being investigated as a possible homicide.

The deceased’s name, age and gender were not immediately released while family members were being notified.
