McDonald’s is next in line to join the plant-based meats trend, according to USA Today.

The fast food chain is joining forces with plant-based meat company Beyond Meat to release the PLT sandwich — plant, lettuce, and tomato — for a 12-week test in Ontario, Canada, USA Today reported.

The PLT will “deliver the iconic taste customers know and love,” said McDonald’s in a statement reported by USA Today

McDonald’s already offers a vegan alternative at locations in Germany and Israel through a partnership with Nestle, according to CNBC.

Nestle began selling its Awesome Burger in U.S. stores this week, CNN reported.

The release of the PLT in Ontario will be McDonald’s first foray into plant-based meats in North America, though it is far from the first U.S.-based restaurant chain to jump on this trend.

Fast food companies like Carl’s Jr., Del Taco and Dunkin’ have partnered with Beyond Meat to create plant-based offerings, while Burger King debuted its meatless Impossible Whopper earlier this year in collaboration with Beyond’s competitor, Impossible Foods.

Following the announcement from McDonald’s on Thursday, shares of Beyond Meat rose by 12%, according to CNBC. Since going public in May, Beyond’s shares have increased by 517%.
