Apple announced a new gym initiative called Apple Watch Connected in order to encourage users to wear their Apple Watch products to the gym, according to Engadget.

Beyond the reward of getting a good workout, the Apple Watch Connected program will allow participants to earn rewards, gifts and discounts by working out.

Apple Watches already have fitness tracking, but the new initiative now connects the gadgets with technology at Basecamp Fitness, Crunch Fitness, Orange Theory and YMCA gyms, CNBC reports.

Crunch Fitness gymgoers can save up to $300 on membership fees in just two years, TechCrunch reports.

Orange Theory, according to Business Insider, is offering gift cards to Nike, Apple and others to program users who meet their fitness goals.

YMCA is giving users of the app the opportunity earn donations for local programs by working out.

The program will likely spread to more gyms as it gains speed. A gym wanting to partner with Apple Watch Connected must have an Apple app with important gym information like class schedules, Apple Pay and GymKit support, and offer perks to Apple Watch Connected users, The Verge reports.

But, the lack of available gyms isn’t that big of a concern, according to Business Insider. Once signed up for Apple Watch Connected, users don’t physically have to be at the gym to earn rewards. Any form of exercise done while wearing the watch is counted, regardless of location.

Crunch Fitness CEO Keith Worts was careful to clarify that user information collected through the app will remain private, and none of the data will be shared with Apple, according to CNBC.
