“Thor: Love and Thunder” will likely begin filming sometime this August, according to reports.

What happened: “Thor: Love and Thunder” director Taika Waititi told Variety during the British Academy of Film and Television Arts red carpet event that he expects the sequel to begin filming in August.

  • “We’ll start shooting around August.”

Wildfires: Waititi said he wasn’t sure if the Australia wildfires will impact shooting schedules.

  • “It’s insane down there.”
  • “It’s absolute chaos.”

Pushed back: Per Collider, “Love and Thunder” was originally set to start filming in March 2020 in Australia. However, it has been pushed back.

  • Fellow phase 4 Marvel film “Shangi-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” will begin filming in November in Australia, too, according to Collider.
  • “This might mean that the projects are filming simultaneously or that they swapped production dates based on their various needs (‘Shang-Chi’ doesn’t arrive until February 2021, so even if it started filming in March 2020, it would be a slightly hectic but not unmanageable production),” Collider reports.
