Two passengers on a recent Delta flight opened the cabin door, activated the slide and slid out the plane while it was taxiing down the runway at New York’s LaGuardia Airport.
What’s going on?
The two passengers slid out of the plane with their dog, exiting as the moving plane was taxiing down the runway, The New York Times reports.
- The passengers are now in custody. It’s unclear what their charges are, or if they’ll be banned from Delta, according to The New York Times.
- The plane returned to the gate and deplaned passengers like normal, CNN reports. The airline arranged alternative flights for passengers.
- “This doesn’t happen every day at the airport,” Lenis Valens, an authority spokeswoman, told The New York Times.
Delta bans passengers
Delta has been banning passengers from its flights during the coronavirus pandemic. In fact, the company has banned close to 700 passengers since the pandemic started, adding them to the “no-fly” list for refusing to wear a mask on the flight, according to Fox News.
