SALT LAKE CITY — Sophomore guard Both Gach, who is third on the team in scoring at 10.6 ppg, sat out for the second straight game Sunday at UCLA, but unlike Thursday when he suited up and was called a “game-time decision,” he didn’t suit up for Sunday’s game. Krystkowiak, who called it a knee injury after Thursday’s game, wouldn’t discuss it Sunday, saying, “I’m not going to talk about injuries ever.”

With Gach out, the Utes have gone deeper into their bench the last two games with Alfonso Plummer getting extended minutes and the starters playing long minutes as Rylan Jones played nearly 38 minutes, Riley Battin 36 and Allen 35.

“We rode some guys pretty hard, some heavy minutes,” said Krystkowiak after the loss to the Bruins. “It’s like a heavyweight fight, you better be pretty special if you’re going to step up and make plays. Maybe we ran out of gas a little bit.”
