Lea Michele’s former Broadway co-star Craig Ramsay recently spoke out about the former “Glee” actress, joining a slew of other celebrities who have criticized her in recent weeks. USA Today reports.
What’s happening:
- According to USA Today, Ramsay spoke on “Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef” Tuesday about Michele. The two worked together in “Fiddler on the Roof” on Broadway in the early 2000s. He said Michele was “despicable.”
- He said: “I just didn’t want to hear Lea Michele’s name in this interview at all. I think she’s a despicable, horrible human being. I think she has lost touch with reality.”
- “I think she’s one of the most entitled people I’ve ever come across in this business.”
- Ramsay said “entitlement took over her body” when she was cast on “Glee.” USA Today reports.
- “She was possessed with this. I cared for her greatly, but then the amount of entitlement that came right at that moment, I’ve never seen the likes.”
Some context:
- Controversy over Michele began in early June when the former “Glee” star released a social media post in favor of Black Lives Matter. Co-star Samantha Ware, who appeared on the final season of the show, slammed Michele, saying she wanted to defecate in Ware’s wig and made her life difficult while on set, which I wrote about for the Deseret News.
- Fellow “Glee” stars Amber Riley, Alex Newell, and Yvette Nicole Brown all weighed in on the controversy, more or less agreeing or acknowledging the ongoing scenario.
Michele issued an apology:
- “I listened to these criticisms and I am learning and while I am very sorry, I will be better in the future from this experience.”
- “The responses I received to what I posted have made me also focus specifically on how my own behavior towards fellow cast members was perceived by them.”
