LOS ANGELES — In Utah’s first game since the passing of sophomore defensive back Aaron Lowe — Saturday night at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum against USC — the Utes wore a new decal on their helmets honoring both Lowe and Ty Jordan with their initials, “TJ” and “AL,” including the words “Forever U.”

Jordan died Dec. 25 due to an accidental shooting and his friend, Lowe, was shot and killed Sept. 26.

After Jordan’s passing Lowe decided to switch his jersey number from No. 2 to No. 22 to honor Jordan.

Just days before the season kicked off, Lowe was recipient of the inaugural Ty Jordan Memorial Scholarship.

Lowe’s funeral will be held Monday in Texas. The team will charter there Monday to attend the services.

A moment of silence was observed prior to kickoff.

“Our hearts are with the Utah family,” read the message on the scoreboard.
