The Aggies’ six-game winning streak came to an end with a 60-58 loss to Saint Mary’s Thursday night at the Spectrum in Logan.
Here are three keys to Utah State’s 60-58 loss to Saint Mary’s:
- Utah State led 56-53 with just under three minutes remaining, but the Gaels were able to execute just enough down the stretch while benefitting from several controversial calls that led to many fans booing the officials off the floor.
- Saint Mary’s leading scorer Dan Fotu (14.5 ppg) didn’t score until there were less than 10 minutes left, but ended up with eight critical points to overcome Justin Bean’s 19 points for the Aggies.
- The Aggies were unable to take advantage of a woeful offensive performance by St. Mary’s in the first half. The home team led by just 20-16 at halftime after SMC shot only 25.9% from the field, including 0 for 12 from 3-point range.
