The BYU women’s basketball team bounced back last week after its first loss of the season, and jumped up a spot in The Associated Press Top 25 poll released Monday as a result.
The Cougars (9-1) are now ranked No. 19 in the poll, up from No. 20 last week. They rose after beating Washington State 71-53 at home on Saturday.
BYU led wire-to-wire, although WSU pulled within one early in the fourth quarter after BYU had built a double-digit lead.
BYU responded with a 10-0 run, however, and finished on a 24-7 run overall to pull away for the comfortable victory.
That result came after BYU had lost to Oklahoma the week before following an 8-0 start.
South Carolina, Stanford, Louisville, Arizona and North Carolina State comprise the top five in the poll.
On the men’s side for BYU, it received eight votes this week after getting four last week.
