BYU (12-3) wrapped up its nonconference schedule Wednesday night with a 65-53 victory over in-state foe Westminster at the Marriott Center.

Here are three keys to the Cougars’ win:

  • BYU shot only 43% overall from the floor but hit 14 of 31 3-pointers.
  • Gideon George scored a game-high 17 points, including 5 of 8 from 3, and he grabbed a game-high eight rebounds. Hunter Erickson scored a career-high 10 points while Trevin Knell added 11, Te’Jon Lucas chipped in 10 and Alex Barcello had 9.
  • The Cougars went through a six-minute scoring drought in the first half but ended up leading by as many as 21 (63-42) in the second half.
