Another Utah men’s basketball player is expected to leave the program.

According to a report by Stadium’s Jeff Goodman Thursday morning, freshman point guard Pelle Larsson will be transferring.

This would mark a significant departure. In his lone season up on the Hill, Larsson was one of Utah’s more important contributors, as he played in 25 games for the Utes — starting 18 — and averaged 8.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists per contest.

Larrson was an elite shooter from distance, as he made 25 of 54 attempts from behind arc, 46.3%.

The 6-foot-5, 208 pound Larsson, a native of Nacka, Sweden, made an immediate impact upon his arrival in Utah, with then-head coach Larry Krystkowiak noting, “I thought with Pelle’s strength and his international experience … where he has been playing against men for a few years, and he’s got the physical presence and the strength, that he is going to be maybe a little bit more college ready than some other folks. He likes contact and physicality. … I wouldn’t say he’s fearless, but he is not going to get intimidated by anybody.”

Larrson is the latest Ute to decide to leave, following in the footsteps of Ian Martinez, Timmy Allen, Alfonso Plummer, Mikael Jantunen, Jordan Kellier and Nobert Thelissen.

Under new head coach Craig Smith, Utah has also brought in a few transfers, including former Utah State forward Marco Anthony and guard Rollie Worster, as well as former Cincinnati guard Gabe Madsen and former UNLV guard David Jenkins Jr.
