Phoebe Waller-Bridge — the star of “Fleabag” and a member of the “Solo: A Star Wars Story” cast — will star with Harrison Ford in the upcoming fifth film of the “Indiana Jones” series, Lucasfilm announced.
John Williams will also return to score the film. He previously scored the other “Indiana Jones” films, beginning with “Raiders of the Lost Ark.”
- “I’m thrilled to be starting a new adventure, collaborating with a dream team of all-time great filmmakers,” said the film’s director James Mangold in a statement. “Steven, Harrison, Kathy, Frank and John are all artistic heroes of mine. When you add Phoebe, a dazzling actor, brilliant creative voice and the chemistry she will undoubtedly bring to our set, I can’t help but feel as lucky as Indiana Jones himself.”
The film will include Kathleen Kennedy, Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall and Simon Emanuel as producers. Back in February 2020, there were rumors that Spielberg had dropped out of the project as director but he’ll stay on as a producer.
- “Indiana Jones 5” has been a rumored project since 2016 after it was announced Ford would return for the role, as I wrote for the Deseret News. Disney pushed back the project. In fact, it was reported that the film would open July 21, 2021. But, because of the pandemic, it got pushed back again.
Per Lucasfilm, “Indiana Jones 5” will hit theaters July 29, 2022.
