Is George Lucas back with the “Star Wars” franchise?

The George Lucas rumor, explained

Multiple reports suggest Lucas, the creator of “Star Wars,” is back in creative control under the Lucasfilm banner, which is now owned by Disney.

In fact, one report suggests Lucas is involved with a new trilogy of films.

  • “Rumors are again flying that George Lucas will be involved with Star Wars again as this time it’s actually claimed that Lucas will help bankroll a new trilogy, which sounds like it would mean Lucas would be actively involved as a producer and not just an executive producer,” according to Cosmic Book News.

The rumor was publicized by the Overlord DVD YouTube channel, which has shared other alleged insider “Star Wars” information in the past.

The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm have not commented on the Lucas rumor. Nothing is official.

Is George Lucas really coming back to the ‘Star Wars’ franchise?

Lucas has popped up now and again for “Star Wars” shows. For example, he appeared on the set of “The Mandalorian” back during its production, as I wrote for the Deseret News.

He is also been long rumored to return to the franchise. There’s a rumor that he is writing an episode of the upcoming Disney+ “Star Wars” show “Andor.”
