The University of Utah will honor the late Ty Jordan during the Utes’ season opener against Weber State on Thursday.

The school shared details via its Utah Football Twitter account on Wednesday.

Jordan, a freshman running back on the Utes’ team in 2020, died tragically last Christmas night, and the team is dedicating the 2021 season to him

“His personality and his charisma and the way he lit up the room is what I’m going to miss the most,” Utah coach Kyle Whittingham told the Deseret News in March. “It’s a situation where Ty is on all of our minds still. It’s been a few months but he was such a dynamic person. I personally miss him every day.”

Thursday’s game between Utah and Weber State will kick off at 5:30 p.m. MDT at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
