With BYU’s move to the Big 12 Conference, there are now two Power Five conferences in which a large swath of college football fans in Utah have a vested interest, joining the Pac-12.
Last weekend, the Big 12 (for this story’s purposes, the Big 12 refers to how it will be constituted once Texas and Oklahoma leave for the SEC, not how it is now) kept rolling, highlighted by some especially impressive wins, while the Pac-12 continued to disappoint in rather striking fashion.
The biggest highlights from the Big 12 included BYU’s win over Pac-12 foe Arizona State and West Virginia’s upset of Virginia Tech. The only nonconference loss the new-look league suffered was UCF falling to Louisville in an absolutely wild finish.
The Pac-12, on the other hand, saw the aforementioned ASU loss, No. 13 UCLA fall to Fresno State, Colorado get thrashed by Minnesota, Utah lose to San Diego State and Arizona get beaten by Northern Arizona of the FCS ranks.
