The coronavirus outbreak might have impacted the airline industry, but that didn’t stop some airlines from ranking among the best in the world.

Qatar Airways ranked as the top airline in the world for 2021, according to a new list from Skytrax, which reviews airports and airlines every year.

  • “It is clear that Qatar Airways has maintained its high standards of innovation and service standards, both in more normal times and through the current global pandemic,” said Skytrax CEO Edward Plaisted in a statement, according to CNN.

Here are the top 10 airlines for 2021 based on the Skytrax World Airline Awards:

  1. Qatar Airways
  2. Singapore Airlines
  3. ANA All Nippon Airways
  4. Emirates
  5. Japan Airlines
  6. Cathay Pacific Airways
  7. EVA Air
  8. Qantas Airways
  9. Hainan Airlines
  10. Air France

Travelers vote in the Skytrax World Airline Awards through a customer survey. For this list, the survey ran from September 2019 to July 2021.

The list includes rankings for airlines with the best cabin staff, cleanest airline cabins and lowest cost, among a number of other factors.

The travel industry has been hit hard because of the pandemic, which has limited travel amid fears of spreading the virus. In fact, multiple airlines expressed worry that the delta variant’s surge in the late summer would impact the fall and holiday travel season, according to The Wall Street Journal.
