“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” is out now, and Marvel Cinematic Universe fans are trying to watch it however they can.
Is ‘Shang-Chi’ on Disney+?
No, not right now.
“Shang-Chi” was only released in movie theaters, which was how movies were often released during the pre-pandemic period of life.
Marvel’s “Black Widow” dropped on Disney+ on the day of its release, though. You could watch the movie by paying an extra $30 in addition to a Disney+ subscription.
- The same happened for Disney’s “Jungle Cruise.”
- Disney made many of its new films available on Disney+ ahead of time because of the coronavirus outbreak, which made people less interested in visiting movie theaters since infections of the coronavirus have been known to spread indoors.
When will ‘Shang-Chi’ be on Disney+?
We don’t know yet. Usually, Disney+ will reveal a new film’s release date for Disney+ in the days after the initial release.
Per CNET, the film “is expected to land on Disney Plus to stream in mid-October, likely at no added cost for subscribers.”
- “However, Disney has repeatedly said it values flexibility above all else as it decides how to release films during the pandemic,” according to CNET. “The company hasn’t given a full-throated confirmation about exactly how ‘Shang-Chi’ will be released on Disney Plus yet, so those expectation may change.”
“Shang-Chi” is expected to have a theater-only run for 45 days, according to CNET. That would mean the film would be available for Disney+ on Oct. 18. It’s unclear if that will be the day it drops.
