BYU rallied to knock off San Francisco 71-69, handing the Dons their first home loss of the season. The Cougars (15-4, 3-1) salvaged a weekend road split against USF (15-3, 2-1). BYU trailed by as many as 10 in the second half.

Here are three keys to the Cougars’ win:

  • In the final minute, Caleb Lohner hit a crucial jumper to give BYU a 68-65 lead, and with 16 seconds left, he grabbed a huge offensive rebound to keep a possession alive.
  • Alex Barcello scored a game-high 18 points and collected seven rebounds.
  • BYU didn’t shoot a free throw until the 12:41 mark of the second half. The Cougars hit 14 of 18 free throws over the final 20 minutes.
