McDonald’s joked that it would accept the Dogecoin cryptocurrency — but only if Tesla accepted “grimacecoin.”
- This was in response to Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who said in a tweet on Tuesday that he would love to eat a Happy Meal on TV if McDonald’s accepted dogecoins.
Details: For the uninitiated, Grimace is a purple figure who has long been one of the major McDonald’s characters, like Ronald McDonald and the Hamburglar.
- Grimace is also the source of one of the best punchlines in “Avengers: Infinity War.”

What to know: Musk has been publicly campaigning for the use of Dogecoin for more than a year now, showing himself to be one of the crypto token’s biggest advocates.
- Most recently, Tesla started to allow people to use Dogecoin to buy Tesla merchandise on its website, as I reported for Deseret News.
Remember: “Grimacecoin” isn’t real. So don’t expect to see it trading anytime soon.
- That said, I never thought Carole Baskin from “Tiger King” would have her own coin, but alas, she does. So, you never know what could happen next.
