Fox News spoke on “the cancer in America that is mental health,” following the most recent mass shooting in Maine, with presidential candidate Nikki Haley.

Fox News — How do we prevent mass shootings?

On “Hannity” Wednesday night, Sean Hannity spoke with Haley about mental health while police were “still searching for a person of interest suspected of shooting and killing at least 16 people in two different locations in Lewiston, Maine.”

“What do you see as the underlying cause of a lot of these shootings?” Hannity asked Haley.

Haley emphasized that the “world is on fire” with violence and it needs to be taken seriously.

“That means we need serious law and order. That means we need to defund sanctuary cities, but that means we need to acknowledge the cancer in America that is mental health,” Haley said.

“One in three Americans suffers from mental health,” she added. “If treated, they can live a perfectly normal life. If not, it spirals out. ... We’re watching now, 80% of our mass shootings are mental health related.”

Haley said that 70% of mass shooters are also suicidal, and because of this, there needs to be mental health counselors in every school to help identify people who are struggling.

“When are we going to say enough is enough, and when are we going to start to heal and say, ‘We’ve got to start getting sober and start realizing we’ve got to take things into our own hands and start getting our country strong again?’” Haley said.
