Mondeaux will cover the U.S. House and Senate, with particular emphasis on Utah and Western politics. She joins national political correspondent Samuel Benson — who led Deseret News’ coverage of the 2024 presidential election from the campaign trail — as he covers national politics and issues pertinent to the well-being of families and individuals.

The Washington, D.C., bureau of the Deseret News reflects the publication’s dedication to delivering unimpeachable journalism centered on the issues most core to the human heart, including faith and family.

“Having boots-on-the-ground coverage of Washington, D.C., is an important part of the Deseret News mission,” said Sarah Jane Weaver, editor of the Deseret News. “Cami and Sam join our reporters in bureaus in other key U.S. cities, including Boston and Phoenix, to cover issues important to voters and people all across the country.”

Most recently, Mondeaux was a congressional reporter for the Washington Examiner, where she covered major political events, including the Jan. 6 hearings, elections and legislative developments in Congress. Prior to that she was a digital content producer at KSL NewsRadio. She holds a degree in communications from Westminster College.
