Willl the third time be the charm for Van Halen in Utah??

The iconic band is once again scheduled to play here. This time at the USANA Amphitheatre on July 18.

However, since reuniting with David Lee Roth in 2007, Van Halen has twice been penciled in to play Salt Lake, and each time the band cancelled the show. The Sammy Hagar fronted version of Van Halen last played at the Delta Center in 2004. Michael Anthony was also still in the band at that point. And ironically, Wolfgang Van Halen also made an appearance that night, playing guitar with his legendary father, Eddie, on the harmonic "316," a short instrumental named after Wolfgang's birthday.

According to our records, the last time a DLR lead version of Van Halen played here was at the old Salt Palace during the 1984 world tour.

This time, Wolfgang is touring with his dad and uncle Alex Van Halen as the full time bass player.

The band is playing outdoors (just 5 days after Rush!!) in what's turning into one of USANA's and Salt Lake City's greatest concert seasons ever.

Tickets area a hefty $149 for both the 100 and 200 seated sections, though the lawn is a very reasonable $35.

Kenny Wayne Shepherd, who opened for Van Halen during their Park City appearance during their brief Gary Cherone era, will also be opening for the band this time around.
