Full Moon Lift Rides
Founded by Robert Redford, the Sundance Mountain Resort offers terrific powder in the winter with a relaxed atmosphere among picturesque landscape. This family-friendly event begins Oct. 17 and runs through the end of the month. The Lift Rides are 45 minutes to an hour, with the ZipTour featuring a span of 3,871 feet. Scandinavian Folk Music
Take a trip across the pond — musically. Enjoy the musical stylings of Loretta Kelley and Andrea Hoag, two of America’s most highly regarded performers of Scandinavian fiddle music. Oct. 11, 7:30 p.m., First United Methodist Church, 203 S. 200 East, $10 (saltlakescandidance.org).
Utah Folklore Festival
Continue cruising the world while staying local, at the Utah Folklore Fest 2019. This cultural event features dance teams from across the Northwest who will perform dances from Mexico, North America, The Pacific Island, Centro-America, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Paraguay, and Venezuela. Indian Art Market
Return to the states and view the exquisite handcrafts of regional Native American artists. The 7th annual Indian Art Market takes place Saturday and Sunday at the Natural History Museum of Utah. The market is an annual juried show. Visitors will be able to meet the artists, hear their stories and purchase authentic, jewelry, pottery, paintings, fetishes, kachina and more. ‘Thriller’
And finally, Utah just isn’t the same without the talented Odyssey Dance Theatre. The famous Halloween hit, “Thriller” plays this weekend at the Covey Center in Provo and runs Oct. 14 through Oct. 26 at Kingsbury Hall.
