AMC Theaters announced Friday that it will hold a 27-hour “Star Wars” marathon event where moviegoers can watch all films in the franchise.
AMC released the information on its website:
- “On Wednesday, Dec. 18, ahead of its official opening on Dec. 20, fans can be among the first to see ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ by attending Star Wars Marathon. Experience all nine ‘Star Wars’ saga films in one epic day. Fans will receive a commemorative pin and blanket, and a concession offer. ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ will start at 5 p.m. local time, one hour earlier than regular public show times.”
The marathon lasts 27 hours, 21 minutes.
Your reporter previously embarked on the Marvel movie marathon, watching all 22 Marvel Cinematic Universe films over 61.5 hours. The event included buckets and buckets of popcorn, along with so many large cups of soda.
In the summer, your reporter partook in the “Toy Story” marathon, which aired all four “Toy Story” films in one day. It wasn’t as epic as the Marvel one.
A quick scan of Megaplex Theatres’ website reveals that the theater’s District location in South Jordan, Utah, has a “Star Wars Marathon” event scheduled for Dec. 18. The event lists for 13 hours and 20 minutes, though.
