President Donald Trump tweeted a video Wednesday meant to slam Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden using Nickelback. But Nickelback struck back.
Trump’s video included a clip of Joe Biden saying he never discussed business with his son. Then, Nickelback starts singing their song “Photograph.” When lead singer Chad Kroeger appears with a photograph, the picture is replaced with a photo of Biden and his son meeting with Ukrainian officials.
On Wednesday morning, a short message says that the video was removed because of a claim from the song’s copyright holder. You hate to see it.
That means that Nickelback likely filed a claim to stop the tweet, according to The Verge.
“So this is where we’re at in 2019. As presidential candidates and New York Times columnists call for Trump to be removed from Twitter over his threats and claims that a civil war will erupt if he’s impeached, the only people capable of stopping him are Nickelback, who at this point are more famous for being a band that everyone hates than for being a band that makes music.”
Flashback: In April, Trump used a “Game of Thrones” meme to respond to the release of the Mueller report, which didn’t sit well with HBO, as reported by the Deseret News. HBO released a statement against the tweet.
“Though we can understand the enthusiasm for ‘Game of Thrones’ now that the final season has arrived, we still prefer our intellectual property not be used for political purposes.”
