A new box office forecast predicts that “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” will have the lowest opening box office performance of any “Star Wars” films in the new trilogy.

“The Rise of Skywalker” is projected to open between $185 million and $225 million, which would rank the film below “The Force Awakens” at $248 million and “The Last Jedi,” which earned $220 million, according to Box Office Pros.

Yes, but: Box office projections can change as the release date nears. Tickets for “Rise of Skywalker” only went on sale in the middle of October, so there’s still plenty of time for projections to change.

“The Rise of Skywalker” has already sold more tickets in pre-sales than all other “Star Wars” films, shattering records within hours of tickets going on sale.

“The Rise of Skywalker” broke records previously set by “Avengers: Endgame,” as reported by the Deseret News. The film sold 45% more in the first hour on Atom Tickets than “Endgame,” according to Deadline.

The film now ranks among the top five films for ticket sales for Atom Tickets, including “Avengers: Endgame,” “Avengers: Infinity War,” “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” and “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.”

“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” is expected to be longest film in the “Star Wars” film franchise at two hours and 35 minutes, per IGN.
