Disney Plus launched Tuesday morning, and a unique search function came with it.
The search function is more than just click, type and go. It comes with a slew of category options to help you find the content you’re looking for.
Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to use it.
- Tap the magnifying glass icon located at the bottom of the home screen on mobile or top of the page on the menu browser.
- The page will offer a few options from there, including a list of selectable categories, which align with various interests for movie fans.
- For this reporter, the immediate options included a “Disney Channel Original Movie” collection, the “Star Wars” Skywalker Saga collection, a “Princesses” category, a “Spider-Man Collection” and more. The immediate options were not broken down by traditional genres, like action-adventure, fantasy, science fiction or similar ideas.
- On the mobile app, you can sort through movies and TV shows by title, genre or time period. You can also review all movies alphabetically.
What they’re saying: “It’s not a perfect solution, and some of the categories are thin and frivolous, particularly the Darth Vader Collection, which only has 12 entries, many of them Star Wars Lego novelties. But if you’re out to skim through old Disney movies and shows, and to find forgotten classics and oddities, the magnifying glass is your best bet,” according to Polygon.
“Disney Plus doesn’t work exactly like every other streaming service out there, but that’s OK, it’ll just take a little getting used to. Once you get the hang of things the service is very easy to use,” ComicBook.com reports.
