Disney signed up 10 million accounts for Disney Plus since the streaming service launched Tuesday, the company said.
“Disney Plus, the highly anticipated streaming service from The Walt Disney Company, has already reached a major milestone, achieving a remarkable 10 million sign-ups since launching,” according to a Disney press release.
Disney does not plan to release any more sign-up statistics outside of its regular earnings calls, Variety reports. The next earning call comes in February 2020 for the December quarter.
Why it matters: The numbers are higher than previous estimates, which suggested Disney Plus would have about 8 million subscribers after launch, according to Variety.
Downloads: Separate data indicates that Disney had 32 million app downloads for Disney Plus between iOS and Android devices, according to multiple reports.
Slight setback: These impressive numbers come even though Disney was distracted by server issues and slight breakdowns with connectivity, which the Deseret News reported on after launch.
