McDonald’s is bringing back the most popular Happy Meal toys to celebrate the kids’ meals’ 40th anniversary, the company announced at the end of October.

What’s happening: The new Surprise Happy Meal will be available from Nov. 7 to Nov. 11 in 90 countries across the world, giving customers a chance to receive old toys long gone.

  • The Happy Meal will offer 15 toys across the world. There will be two exclusive toys in the United States.
  • Happy Meals were first introduced in June 1979. Several of the original toys were focused on McDonald’s characters.

What they’re saying: “Since the Happy Meal was introduced on the menu, it quickly became synonymous with our brand,” McDonald’s now-former CEO Steve Easterbrook said in a statement. “Today, this iconic red box creates lasting memories for billions of families annually across the world.”

  • “Parents tell us how fondly they recall their favorite toys,” said Colin Mitchell, McDonald’s senior vice president, global marketing, according to USA Today. “So, unboxing the Surprise Happy Meal together creates a real moment of bonding with their children. We hope these toys are something that they will treasure and remember.”
