SALT LAKE CITY — It’s a great weekend to be a Utahn. Gone West, Colbie Caillat’s new band, plays in Park City this weekend, Utah Children’s Theatre presents its annual Shakespeare for Kids Festival and the Ensign Piano Quartet takes the stage at Temple Square. Plus, swap your unwanted items for hidden gems at Brigham City Fine Arts Center’s yard sale fundraiser, or attend one of the New Century Dance Project’s culminating concerts. Read on for details. 

Gone West featuring Colbie Caillat

Colbie Caillat and Justin Reeves, longtime songwriting partners, have started a new band with their significant others. Gone West, comprised of Caillat, her fiancé Justin Young, Reeves and his wife Nelly Joy, is touring with songs from their debut studio album, which will be released in September. The band’s pop-infused country features complex harmonies and a variety of instruments. Gone West performed in Utah before they officially became a band, and they love Utahn fans. Multi-family yard sale and fundraiser

Do some end-of-summer cleaning and bring your unwanted items to the Brigham City Fine Arts Center’s yard sale fundraiser, which takes place Friday and Saturday. One person’s trash is another’s treasure, so peruse sale items for potential hidden gems. Purchases benefit the Brigham City Fine Arts Center, whose goal is to give visitors a sense of enthusiasm and a desire to learn. ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ 

Utah Children’s Theatre presents their annual Shakespeare Festival for Kids this weekend, and this year’s play is “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” With a love triangle, magic and lots of misunderstandings, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” has something for everyone. The play’s language is modified to be more understandable for children, and the production is set in 1930s New Orleans. Aug. 17-Sept. 28, dates and times vary, Utah Children’s Theatre, 3605 S. New Century Dance Project festival

New Century Dance Project brings professional dancers and companies from Utah and across North America together with aspiring youth dancers. This year, students spend days in workshops on choreography, exploring expression, vulnerability and artistry. The festival closes with two performances: a student choreography showcase and a festival gala concert. Ensign Piano Quartet

The Ensign Piano Quartet was born in Vienna in 2016 and brings new life to classical favorites. Comprised of Christopher Jed Madsen, Kaden Larson, Hyrum Arnesen and Zac Adamson, they all studied piano performance at Brigham Young University. In their performances, the four play two pianos and perform arrangements of classical music.
