SALT LAKE CITY — Events this weekend include something for every kind of person. Get in touch with the past at the Utah Renaissance Faire, or, if you’re more outdoorsy, check out the Salt Lake Climbing Festival or the Canyon to Canyon Bike Ride. If you’re looking for music festival vibes, Reggae Rise Up Utah’s annual festival takes place in Heber this weekend. For a socially conscious arts experience, attend “The Post Office” — ticket sales benefit education programs in the Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya. If your little ones won’t sit still, head over to the Discovery Children’s Museum for a presentation about beekeeping and a look at the museum’s growing hive. Read on for details. 

Wasatch Beekeepers

Discovery Children’s Museum has a special guest this weekend: the Wasatch Beekeepers. They’ll be on hand to give a presentation on beekeeping, teach about how bees turn nectar and pollen into honey and help children explore the museum’s own growing beehive. Utah Renaissance Faire

Get a blast from the past at the Utah Renaissance Faire this weekend. Cheer for your favorite knight at the joust, experience Renaissance music and plays, and watch demonstrations from local artisans. Even if you don’t have a costume (they’re not required), you’ll be able to step into a bygone era. Aug. 23-24, 10 a.m.-8 p.m., Thanksgiving Point, Electric Park, 3003 N. Reggae Rise Up Utah

The ninth year of Reggae Rise Up Utah hits River’s Edge Campground in Heber this weekend. Each year, Reggae Rise Up brings the largest names in reggae together. This year’s lineup features headliners Rebelution, Dispatch and Slightly Stoopid as well as acts such as Matisyahu, Collie Buddz and Stephen Marley. ‘The Post Office’

“The Post Office,” adapted by Melissa Leilani Larson from the classic Rabindranath Tagore play of the same name, is the story of a child confined at home by a mysterious illness. Her active imagination and friendly nature help her connect with strangers and remain hopeful. The play, presented in conjunction with Plan-B Theatre Company, the Gandhi Alliance for Peace and the United Nations Association of Utah, benefits education programs in the Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya. Canyon-2-Canyon Bike Ride

The Bryce Canyon Natural History Association sponsors the yearly Canyon-2 -Canyon Bike Ride, a family friendly riding event between Bryce Canyon’s Inspiration Point and Red Canyon. With bikes available to rent, a shuttle to the starting line and free registration, this is the perfect outdoor experience to finish off your summer. Salt Lake Climbing Festival

The seventh annual Salt Lake Climbing Festival brings a weekend of climbing clinics and community. This educational initiative features clinics for all skill levels of climbing as well as dinner and festivities. All proceeds from the event go to environmental stewardship for the Wasatch region.
