SALT LAKE CITY — Disney has released some of the finer details of what Disney Plus actually has to offer, and it shapes up well compared to the company’s other streaming competition.

CNET reports the service will cost $6.99 a month and will allow subscribers to watch on four devices at a time across up to seven user profiles. Video content will also stream in 4K with High Dynamic Range, which allows a more lifelike color palette on compatible TV sets.

AV Club also notes that some titles will also offer Dolby Atmos, which allows for theater-quality sound via headphones or surround sound setups. The service will also include content up to “PG-13 or softer,” which means Disney-owned movies like “Deadpool” or “Kingsman: The Secret Service” might not appear on the platform.

Unlike Netflix, Disney Plus won’t drop entire seasons of television shows at once — instead, CNET notes shows like “The Mandalorian” will release one episode at a time on a weekly basis.

So how does Disney Plus compare to its competition? Here’s what other similar streaming services have to offer:

  • Netflix’s basic plan begins at $8.99 and includes one screen in standard definition. For Ultra HD — which includes 4K and HDR — subscribers need to pay $15.99.
  • Amazon Prime Video costs $8.99 by itself and includes some 4K and HDR content. Amazon Prime subscribers get access to the service for free — if paying $119 a year can be considered “free.”
  • Hulu offers an ad-free plan for $11.99 a month, or a basic subscription for $5.99. The Verge notes the cheaper plan will also be available in a bundle with Disney Plus and ESPN Plus for $12.99.
  • According to Bloomberg, Apple TV Plus will likely launch this November for $9.99, placing it in direct competition with Disney Plus.
