ABC will host a live episode of the “Roseanne” spin-off show “The Conners,” and there’s going to be some political ties to the episode.

What’s going on: The live episode of “The Conners” will include references and connections to the first presidential primary, which will happen the first night in New Hampshire, USA Today reports.

  • The primary will factor into the show’s storyline.
  • The episode airs March 11.
  • The episode will be performed for both Eastern and Western audiences.
  • ABC News coverage of the primary will be included in the episode.
  • Per USA Today, the episode will show Mark (Ames McNamara) “watching the results of the primary for a school report with Harris (Emma Kenney), who is apathetic to the electoral process and believes money’s influence in politics means real change is impossible,” ABC says. The rest of the family disagrees on why people should vote, “including their working-class perspective that you may have to vote for a candidate you don’t love but one that will ‘screw you the least.’”

Context: “The Conners” is a spinoff of the show “Roseanne,” which launched after the network cancelled the “Roseanne” reboot after Roseanne Barr shared racist tweets about former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett, according to the Deseret News.

  • The show reportedly suffered a ratings drop without Barr, according to the Deseret News.
