“Guardians of the Galaxy” director James Gunn has endorsed Andrew Yang for president.
What happened: Gunn released a statement that said he supports Yang for president, according to Yahoo News reporter Brittany Shepherd.
The statement reads:
“Andrew Yang is willing to discuss the tough issues our country is facing right now, instead of running from them, and come up with positive, unique, and excitingly revolutionary new ways to tackle the future.”
Flashback: Comedian Ken Jeong endorsed Andrew Yang for president at the end of December, Newsweek reported.
- Yang thanked Jeong in a separate Twitter post.
- Jeong responded on Twitter: “Much love, Andrew!! Can you give me that thousand bucks now? #YangGang.”

Details: Yang is currently a candidate for the Democratic Party.
- Yang is currently polling at 3% in polls from Iposis/Reuters, NBC News/Wall Street Journal and CNN by SSRS, according to CNN.
- Yang has not qualified for the Democratic debate in January, according to CBS News.
- To qualify, Yang would need to receive 5% support in four national polls or single state polls. Or, he could have 7% in at least two early-voting state polls, CBS News reports.
