“The Batman” director Matt Reeves may have just confirmed that Colin Farrell will play a legendary villain in his upcoming film.
- Farrell would reportedly play Oswald Cobblepot, who is commonly known as the villain the Penguin.
- Reeves tweeted a GIF of Farrell from his movie “In Bruges” and wrote: “Wait — is that you, #Oz?” with a bat emoji right after.
Flashback: Rumors of Farrell’s involvement began in 2019. Photos from the set showed a white-haired person using an umbrella, which added to those rumors more recently, according to ComicBookMovie.com.
Last time: Danny DeVito was the last to play the Penguin in a movie in “Batman Returns,” according to People magazine.
- Robin Lord Taylor performed the role in “Gotham.”
Casting rumors: Jonah Hill was originally rumored to appear in the film but he passed on it, according to Variety. Hill would have play either the Penguin or the Riddler. The latter role eventually went to Paul Dano instead.
