The new release date comes just after the original “Legally Blonde” cast reunited online on Tuesday to raise money for World Central Kitchen, according to USA Today.
During the virtual reunion, Witherspoon was joined by co-stars Luke Wilson, Jennifer Coolidge and Selma Blair, among others, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Witherspoon talked about how she feels that “Legally Blonde” — which was released in 2001 — continues to have influence today.
“I don’t think any of us knew what this film was going to turn out to be, or how much it would inspire young women and young people around the world,” Witherspoon said during the reunion, according to USA Today. ”I’ve traveled the entire world, and I’ve always, always — the movie that people stop me about is ‘Legally Blonde.’ And the thing that actually really touches my heart is more people stop me and say, ‘I went to law school because of Elle Woods,’ which is really amazing.”
